The Latin Music Institute Instructors

 

Gabriel De David - Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone. Gabriel completed his bachelors degree in Music Education at the Interamerican University in Puerto Rico and his Masters in Music Education at Florida State University. He has been a professional musician for 23 years and has been teaching music in public and private schools in Puerto Rico and Orlando for the past 17 years. Gabriel founded several Latin jazz groups and have played with many local jazz ensembles. He appeared at the Heineken Jazz Nights with his own group Mosaico and is the co-founder of Latin Attitude, a Latin Jazz band that recorded one of Gabriel's compositions called "Mi Bomba". He is the author of instructional method books.

                                           

Lina Caceres - Lina has a Bachelor's degree in Music Education with emphasis on viola at the National Pedagogical University in Bogota, Colombia. She has been a professional violist for 15 years and has performed with several symphonic orchestras in Colombia. Lina has had the opportunity to perform with renown artist such as Gilberto Santa Rosa, Marco Antonio Solis, Marcos Witt, Alex Campos, Paulina Rubio and many others.       

Angel Martinez - Guitar, Cuatro and Bass. Angel has a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from "Recinto Universitario de Mayaguez", and completed his masters in International Business Administration at Webster University. He studied music at "Escuela Libre de Musica", and "Academia de Guitarra Moreno" in Ponce, PR. Angel has 20 years of experience as a professional musician and 10 years teaching music. He has performed with many Latin bands in Puerto Rico and Orlando. Currently he performs as the bass player for various local groups and is the director of “La Rondalla de Orlando”. 

Oscar Garcia - Piano and Music Theory. Oscar was born in East Harlem. His attraction to music began as a preteen. Oscar has shared the stage with many legendary names in both Latin and Jazz music. Some of these artists are: Tito Rodriguez, Joe Cuba, and Tito Puente. Oscar became recognized as part of the salsa sound of the late 60's and 70's. Oscar traveled and recorded with many known orchestras. He loves Latin jazz and also plays the vibraphone. He says that after 40 years of performing, studying, and recording, he still is growing as a musician. 

                                    

       Jose Rosa - Born and raised in Humacao P.R. Jose was accepted into the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music where he studied percussion with Professor Jose Alicea. Jose moved to Miami where he attended The University of Miami and Florida International University. Through the course of his life, Jose has had the opportunity to perform with renown artist such as, Arturo Sandovel, Tito Puente, Mike Orta, Bobby Cruz, Marcos Barrientos and many others. He has also co-written 2 instructional books with his long time friend and Professor Hector "Pocho" Neciosup who is currently teaching in Florida International University.
